About LMP

Lombardo Music Publications

We were founded in 1995 by Ricky Lombardo to provide the highest quality educational and professional materials for Instrumental Music educators. Our main emphasis through the years has been to establish a catalog of music for the flute from solo to full choirs. We are one of, if not the only small company, pursuing license agreements to publish titles protected by copyright. You will find several well-known works throughout our catalog. We also offer custom commissions to create unique pieces tailored to your ensemble’s needs.

After years of selling at conventions and taking phone orders, Ricky is thrilled to bring his music online in 2025 with a brand-new website, complete with digital downloads and easy online ordering. Thanks to countless requests (and some extra encouragement from his wife and granddaughter) his music is now more accessible than ever!

MEET THE TEAM

Ricky Lombardo

Composer - Arranger - Flutist - Keyboardist - Educator -  Publisher

Ricky Lombardo is a composer, arranger, flutist, educator, and publisher whose contributions to the flute community span more than six decades. His over 140 published works have an unwavering commitment to accessibility, creativity, as well as ensemble engagement. Ricky’s music continues to inspire flutists of all ages and levels around the world.

Mr. Lombardo's music has received widespread recognition, including 4 National Flute Association Newly Published Music Competition Winners, 9 Finalist Honors, and 13 Honorable Mentions. His work has been featured in performances at NFA conventions for over 30 years and remains listed on many state and national required repertoire lists. Teachers across the country often share that they program at least one of Ricky’s works in every concert.

Mr. Lombardo’s compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by distinguished artists and ensembles around the world, which include Uptown Flutes (NJ), Flutissimo Flute Choir of Germany, Opal Flutes (UK), Pacific Flute Ensemble (CA), Pikes Peak Flute Choir (CO), Carolina Álvarez Villalobos (Chile), Barry Griffiths known as Grizzlyflute (UK), Julia Richter (Hawaii), Capitol Area Flute Club (NY), Set of Flutes (Republic of the Congo), the Trenton Brass Quintet (NJ), Jan Eberle (Big Band Vocalist - FL) in addition to many countless college, school and community ensembles.

His original work Quarantunes, written during the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to be shared for free with flutists worldwide as a way to uplift and connect during challenging times. It has been recorded by the renowned Mimi Stillman and many others, further amplifying its impact.

In 1995, he founded Lombardo Music Publications (LMP) to publish his growing body of work. He has written extensively for solo flute, duets, trios, quartets, plus full flute choirs. His most notable innovation is the expandable flute choir format—a flexible, scalable approach to ensemble arranging that allows a piece to be performed with a minimum of four instruments (piccolo and three C flutes or four C flutes). The arrangement can further be expanded with additional parts that introduce harmonic depth and counter melodies. Unlike traditional flute choir pieces where only the top chair part may be musically rewarding, Ricky’s arrangements ensure that every part is interesting, engaging, and fun to play, regardless of position.

Mr. Lombardo’s works have been published by Alry Publications, Kendor Music, Almitra Music, and Touch of Brass, in addition to his own publishing company. He has received commissions from Flûtée (MI), Opal Flutes (UK), the Tucson Flute Club (AZ) for their 50th Golden Anniversary (where he was guest conductor), the American Heritage Wind Ensemble (NJ), Capitol Area Flute Club (NY) in celebration of the club’s 25th Silver Anniversary and Drew University’s New Jersey Flute Choir Day, among others.

Today, Ricky continues to expand his legacy with the launch of this modern website where flutists, educators, and directors can now order his printed works and access a growing library of digital downloads, making it easier than ever to explore and perform his music.

Born in Trenton, New Jersey into a musical family, Mr. Lombardo began studying accordion with his late father, Harry Lombardo, while in elementary school. Piano lessons came shortly thereafter. In seventh grade, eager to join the school band, he asked the director which instrument no one had picked yet. The flute was chosen. He has been playing it ever since. Because a three-year music theory/harmony course, which included composing, arranging for the school’s bands and orchestra, was offered in high school the stage was set for a lifetime of musical creation.

Mr. Lombardo’s formal education was at Millikin University and Glassboro State College (now Rowan University), where he met his wife, Marguerite (Peggy), also a flutist. He did additional private arranging study with Frank Hunter, a well-known arranger in the recording industry. He served as a band director for 25 years, including 20 years in the Princeton, New Jersey public school system, where at all levels from elementary through high school were part of the position’s responsibilities. In addition to teaching, Mr. Lombardo has remained deeply involved in many aspects of music through the years. Performance, arranging, composing, band instrument repair, publishing, and directing ensembles including his own small band, the Ricky Lombardo Orchestra have all been part of his life.

Through a lifetime of teaching, performing, arranging, and publishing, Ricky Lombardo has helped shape the modern flute repertoire. His music will continue to do so for generations to come.

Peggy Lombardo

Order Coordinator - Voice of Reason - Proud Wife

Peggy Lombardo has been a dedicated supporter of Ricky’s musical journey for decades—as a collaborator, performer, educator, and life partner. The two met in the college band at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) while pursuing degrees in music education, with flute as their primary instrument.

While raising a family, Peggy maintained an active private teaching studio and later returned to school to earn a degree in library science. She went on to serve as a school librarian and media specialist for many years, combining her love of learning and the arts.

Behind the scenes at Lombardo Music Publications, Peggy plays an essential role—regularly reviewing and playing through new compositions, helping shape performance notes, and offering editorial support across Ricky’s catalog. When exhibiting at flute fairs and NFA conventions, she could always be found managing the booth with her signature warmth and deep knowledge of the music.

Peggy continues to perform regularly on both C flute and alto flute, including as a member of Centre Park Flutes of Reading, PA. She is also a founding member of Flutistically Yours, the professional flute quartet she co-founded with Ricky in 1993. In addition to her lifelong dedication to music, Peggy is an avid quilter and finds joy in spending time at her sewing machine, creating with the same care and creativity that she brings to every note.
